Segment 1 of 2
Find some Web sites that you feel are done very well. Identify in these sites
the specific qualities that you feel are important to include in Web development.
Such examples could include qualities
such as site structure, contents, style, special features, etc.
Goal for this exercise:
- Gain ideas about the site you are going to design and
develop
- Communicate professionally
- Generally understand client needs, objectives, goals, and outcomes
Steps:
- You should choose six (6) example sites that you consider to be high
quality
- Write comments about each one why you feel each one is high quality (a
minimum of 200 words for each of the 6 example sites)
- Write one thing you would change on the side if it were yours
- Include a link to the Web site you are reviewing
If you are not sure what to say about a site here are some questions that
can guide you. You do not have to answer all of these for every site. Pick
the ones that seem most relevenat or make your own points.
- What was your first impression of this site?
- How does this site organize
the flow of information?
- Does the site structure make sense or does it
confuse you? Why?
- Do the graphics/layout/multimedia enhance the site
or detract from it? Why?
- Did the images add or detract from the site?
Why?
- Was the text color and size readable?
- Did the site have a navigation
bar or other navigation tool? Was the navigation well done?
- Did the links
used on this site allow for easy forward and backward navigation?
- Did
the site have a color scheme or look and feel that was repeated on all
the pages?
- What does this site offer that was unusual or very well
done?

We are going to be building a mini-site throughout this course and therefore we need to start right away in addressing our design and layout plans. Thus, please turn in the following:
- One to two page description of site and audience description. Include technical requirements such as browser considerations.
- Navigation map
- Design mock up
