Lets try to draw a few things. First off, choose the pencil.
Note: You can change the thickness by selecting the line width in properties.
First lets scribble a line. Check under "options" on the left and make sure "ink" is chosen:
"Ink" will keep the line exactly as you draw it:
But lets say we want a smooth line, well, choose "smooth" from the "options":
Now try to draw a line and Flash will attempt to smooth it out for you:
And lets say you want it to straighten the edges, which is particularly useful if you are trying to draw something like a square. Then, choose "straighten" from the "options":
Now try to draw something, and also try to draw a square:
